Mindful-Boxing® was created by Coach Rodney King. The program combines his three decades both as a martial artist, boxer, and world renowned coach — along with his academic research into what he terms ‘mindfulness-in-action.’ Rodney is currently a Doctoral student at the University of Leicester, where as a Social Scientist, his research focuses on mindfulness-in-action and it’s impact on leadership performance.
Rodney’s real world experience of mindfulness in the martial arts of everyday life, along with the inner game tools he developed as a martial artist and boxer enabled him to succeed both in his life and career.
At age 17 Rodney was kicked out of the house by his abusive alcoholic Mother – and found himself sleeping on a park bench , with less than R200 in his pocket. Years later, after becoming a world renowned modern martial artist, coach, super successful entrepreneur and author, he realized that what led to his success came down to what he did on the inside.
Taking those very same inner game lessons he had learned over the years both as a martial artist, and boxer, he then created the Mindful-Boxing® program — as a way to coach others how to achieve the same inner excellence he did, through mindfulness, and inner game training. Not withstanding that boxing is a super fun workout and experience. Further learning through the body is a powerful and effective catalyst to achieve personal mastery!
